Why Should I Pay?

Once again, homebuyers are expected to foot the bill for irresponsible property owners. Pennsylvanians already pay some of the highest taxes in the country, but now there is a potential to pay even more. The Recorder of Deeds Fee Law allows counties to assess an additional fee of up to $15 on every recorded deed and mortgage to fund blight demolition. Charging future homebuyers more fees to address someone else’s vacant or delinquent property just doesn’t seem right.
